UNDERWORLD Reboot in the Works; Cory Goodman to Pen Script

Welcome back to Underworld. Lakeshore Entertainment is moving forward with a reboot of the vampire action franchise, hiring Cory Goodman to write the script. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing. The first Underworld film, directed by Len Wiseman and starring Kate Beckinsale, was released in 2003. Playing the strong vampire Selena made Beckinsale into a bankable action star, and three films followed in 2006 (Underworld: Evolution), 2009 (prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) and 2012 (Underworld: Awakening).

Underworld: Awakening, the 3D film that saw Beckinsale reprise her role as Selene, was the top earner in the franchise, taking in $160 million worldwide. The vampires versus werewolves franchise has grossed $458.2 million worldwide. Goodman wrote the script for the 2011 film Priest, starring Paul Bettany. He also penned the script for the upcoming Summit film The Last Witch Hunter starring Vin Diesel, which is currently in pre-production.

Coming completely out of left field is the Alex Aja-produced The Pyramid (formerly Site 146). Gregory Levasseur, who worked with Alexandre Aja on the screenplays for High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes and Maniac, directed the flick. 20th Century Fox has now released the first official trailer for The Pyramid. The footage starts off pretty weak, ripping off trailers for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, before it explodes into a series of shots that look like a cross between The Descent and Indiana Jones. With As Above, So Below opening this Friday, it looks like fans will get two underground exploration horror films in the same year. The film stars Denis O’Hare, Ashley Hinshaw and James Buckley. The Pyramid opens December 5th.

Synopsis: The ancient wonders of the world have long cursed explorers who’ve dared to uncover their secrets. But a team of U.S. archaeologists gets more than they bargained for when they discover a lost pyramid unlike any other in the Egyptian desert. As they unlock the horrific secrets buried within, they realize they aren’t just trapped; they are being hunted.

Back in 1999, Eduardo Sanchez looked like he was going to be the next big thing after the huge success of The Blair Witch Project. While he has worked steadily in the last 15 years, he has yet to attain that same level of critical or box office success. Lionsgate looks to be taking another chance on Sanchez and his brand of found footage horror with this fall's Exists. Where The Blair Witch Project managed to scare folks with what they didn't see, this trailer makes no mistake that we are going to get glimpses of the monster lurking in the woods, even if it is via shaky GoPro footage. The film won SXSW Audience Award, but this new trailer looks awfully generic.

Synopsis: For five friends, it was a chance for a summer getaway— a weekend of camping in the Texas Big Thicket. But visions of a carefree vacation are shattered with an accident on a dark and desolate country road. In the wake of the accident, a bloodcurdling force of nature is unleashed—something not exactly human, but not completely animal— an urban legend come to terrifying life…and seeking murderous revenge.

    Citizenfour (2014) (Teaser Trailer):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ADUs8iN7NE
Edward Snowden documentary. He's doing AOK in Russia.

    L.A. Confidential (1997):

If you can look past the trailer's cheesy 90's voice-over, you'll find a starkly seedy cop drama set in notoriously corrupt 1950's Los Angeles, told with rare grit and cynicism, closer to the reality of the time than much of the art that actually came out of it.

Yes, I'd watch both of those movies. Both super interesting in their own ways.

I love the cheesy voice over, btw lol

I recently discovered this movie, and realize it should be viewed as either a prequel or squeal to "A Dangerous Method" ...both have important years of Freud, and the formulation of modern psychology

I honestly enjoyed this mindless sci-fi movie. Way to go Tom Cruise as a primarily sci-fi actor now

Watched this on the plane too. It's probably he Rock's best movie.

It was way better than the more recent Conan movie:
